Bridging Communication

Why?

How?

Many people lack understanding regarding cochlear implants (CIs), often assuming they fully restore hearing. This platform aims to dispel such myths and promote education. By raising awareness, we foster empathy and better communication between the hearing and DHH communities.

This website includes basic ASL lessons so that everyone can communicate across communities, facts about the cochlear implant so others could see the reason behind the cochlear implant's inability to mimic the ear's capabilities, and last but not least, an interactive comparison video that would allow everyone here to be able to "take a step in their boot" and feel for themselves what it is like to go through life with a cochlear implant in hopes for all to be more aware of their actions when we interact with CI users and change habits and actions as needed in order to be more inclusive of the DHH member.
