Our Story & Background

Founded by a high schooler on the belief that deafness is a rich cultural experience rather than a deficit, this website emerged as a voice for clarity in a world of misconceptions.

I don't advocate for getting a cochlear implant or not; we advocate for human connection that makes us one. My approach blends technical understanding with cultural sensitivity, ensuring that every individual's connection with one another is treasured and comfortable.

What Makes this Unique
Who Am I?

Hi, I’m Zedric Wong! 👋

I’m currently a high school senior, and I’ve been playing the violin since I was 7 years old (and studying in the San Francisco Conservatory of Music's pre-college program since I was 10). Music has always shaped how I understand sound, but it also made me realize how much we take hearing for granted.

As a hearing person, I used to think cochlear implants were replacements or a device that could restore hearing. However, once I learned how a CI works and given a small sample of what the world sounds like to the user, I knew I wanted to help others in the hearing community understand. I built this space to raise awareness of the challenges of the CI and help the hearing community understand the 2 different communities and become genuinely mindful, inclusive allies.
